Panoxyl - January 29th, 2010

Panoxyl

A 10% benzyl peroxide prescription drug, Panoxyl claims to be a “keratolytic agent with antibacterial actions”. It is meant to be used as a cleansing agent, and it should be used for an extended period of time due to the repercussions associated with the cessation of use with benzyl peroxide.

However, using a 10% concentration of benzyl peroxide, Panoxyl uses more than most, and as such runs a significantly higher risk of adverse reactions such as dryness, irritation, flushing, itching, peeling, redness, or swelling. Many tend to find these unpleasant, and in some cases severe enough to stop use. So if you choose to use Panoxyl, extreme caution should be exercised and a good moisturizer should be used daily. But being that there are better options available, we would not suggest it.
